SPECTRUM 2020

LET’S JOIN FORCES

The next innovation boom isn’t coming from New York or San Francisco — it’s radiating from cities like Atlanta, New Orleans, and Memphis, with a new wave of talented pioneers who are building game-changing socially conscious solutions across industries. The fastest-growing population of American entrepreneurs — people of color — are leading the charge, responding to the real needs of their communities and creating conscious companies that have a purpose beyond profit.

But while brilliant minds are plentiful, investment in and support for leaders of color is not. The racial equity gap persists, preventing great startups from scaling and thriving. Innovators and founders of color are systematically under-recognized and under-resourced. Now is the time for change.

At SOCAP and Conscious Company Media, we know the urgent need for access, inclusion, and impact. For over a decade, we’ve surfaced new solutions by gathering diverse perspectives to address the unique obstacles that we all face when markets fail. Together, we strive to better understand the challenges at hand and implement strategies to overcome those barriers. Let’s explore the full range of possibilities for creating equity and shared prosperity.

This June in Atlanta, GA, we’ll host SPECTRUM — a two-day immersive convening to bring together business leaders, entrepreneurs, thought leaders, cross-sector practitioners, and investors to identify ways to build an impact economy based on equity, diversity, and inclusion where everyone can thrive.

Join us in Atlanta, GA on June 9-11, 2020 to unlock the full range of possibilities.

A community of change-makers.
A weekend of play | connection | discovery.

Greenermind is a community of change-makers in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Washington, D.C.  We host the Greenermind Summit -- one part adult summer camp, one part unconference, and one part restorative retreat.

Is there a talent show? Yup. Do we make music around the campfire? Yup. Will you learn about cutting-edge ways people are solving wicked problems like sanitation in the developing world, gender bias at work, oceanic plastic pollution, affordable housing policy, and more? Duh — it wouldn’t be Greenermind without some serious nerding out.

At Greenermind you'll meet mission-driven people from diverse backgrounds. We are entrepreneurs, educators, designers, scientists, nonprofit leaders, corporate managers, artists, policy experts, front-line activists, and more.

Your experience is exactly what you make it. You can dive into facilitated activities or relish unstructured time. The entire weekend is sourced from our stellar community; you’re invited to present a workshop, lead a hike, create art, or bring anything you’d like to share.

If you have a passion to share, if you want to grow and explore, if your soul needs a pickup from this crazy world—join us.  We hope to see you this year.

Sustainability Summit 2020

“Limiting warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius is not impossible, but will require unprecedented transitions in all aspects of society,” warned Hoesung Lee, chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), upon the release of the panel’s report in October 2018. The IPCC says global net human-caused carbon-dioxide emissions must be reduced to zero by 2050 to keep global warming below 1.5°C. In the absence of such action, the IPCC predicts that the Earth’s temperature will increase to over double this, to 3.2°C above pre-industrial levels by 2100, with catastrophic consequences.

Despite images of polar bears’ melting habitats and scorched landscapes from wildfires, the consequences of climate change seem vague and abstract. Many know the effects will be terrible, but policymakers struggle to describe how climate change will change our way of life—and thereby get the world to act.

WHY ATTEND

The efforts under way are not enough. Action needs to be scaled up to meet internationally agreed goals. The Sustainability Summit will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs and researchers from around the world to assess what businesses in particular—but also governments and NGOs—can do to rise to the challenge.
